At last! Today we have started to drill for water at Jopeva. At last we will be able to have the water we need to keep our crops growing, for drinking and household use.
A very special thanks to our sponsors that have made this investment possible. This year Christmas came early!
Here you can see the process of building a small building with earth bags.
We chose to build a standard roof construction.
We asked the children to start the building process with a very kind neighbour, Toiko as our building manager. The children started this work during their summer vacation. When they went back to school we hired some helpers to finish the building.
The result is fantastic! Not only is the building very solid and “termite” free (termites cannot digest the bags we use) – it is also a “cool” place to be in – since the walls accumulates the heat.
People in the surrounding community have followed the process and are very impressed.
And we look forward to sharing all our “hands on experience”.
Today we will be celebrating Ingrids 90th birthday at Skedsmokorset, Norway. She and her brothers (aunt and uncles of Thorbjørn) have been very supportive of Jopeva – so the children have made a video-birthday greeting especially for her. Enjoy!
We have been so fortunate to be able to serve a Christmas dinner for friends and neighbours the 1st of January.
Jospehine and the children traveled to Lodwar to buy food and dearly awaited Christmas gifts.
This year the children were given clothes and shoes – and how joyful and proud they were when they showed me them.
The iPad is unfortunately not working so this year I have made a short video from the Skype session we had during the Christmas meal. You can see the videos from the 2 Christmas dinners below.
Wishing everyone a peaceful and wonderful 2015.
